If Roddenberry only knew how many people his idea has inspired after his demise. While alive he even influenced Lucille Ball to green light his premise. I had heard she thought it was a show about the USO but I've heard later that she KNEW it was really UFO in other words science fiction. I don't know all her motion pictures but I don't think she was in a sci fi flick. Heck even Gene Autry was in one.

paramount tried to stifle the fans by limiting their efforts for stories that last the typical hour. But they CAN't . Losing battle . All Paramount did was force concentration of effort and limiting plots to bare necessities. maybe if the rumors are true and cash strapped paramount sells the franchise the NEXT owner will allow all who want to to take it to the limit. wishful thinking but I did mine looking at a star. Maybe it was Orion with those beautiful women..

Star Trek is actually easily defined... it gave us something no other sci fi gave us... a utopian hopeful look into the future. Even at it's darkest it is still bright. Modern Star Trek is void of that. In my opinion.

I’m gay and from a ethnic minority background, so I really like diversity and representation - but like you, I found the storylines to be poor and the ‘burn’ concept was good but the reveal was absolutely terrible. Like you say, the resolutions tended to fall flat. I really enjoyed your review.

A lovely video and I share a lot of your perspectives. The one thing I’d have enjoyed hearing you talk about is the quality of the discs themselves. Like you, I’m a avid physical media fan and own lots of unofficial releases - some of these discs have the distinctive blue-ink dye on the reverse side of the disc, which gives me the impression they are essentially home-quality recordable discs (with fantastic printed artwork on the top-side of the disc) but ultimately inferior compared with a official studio published disc (which won’t have the blue dye, but instead will have a silver sheen on the underside of the disc). Don’t get me wrong, I would rather have a unofficial physical copy than nothing at all - but the quality of these commercially available recordable discs and nature of the home-recording process sadly means their lifespan isn’t as long as a factory-produced dvd or blue-ray. I think a DVD and Blu-Ray generally have a 25-50 year life span before degradation, whilst home-recorded discs with the distinctive blue dye have predicted 5-10 year lifespans. People are so ignorant of physical media lifespans (even external hard drives only have predicted 10-15 year life expectancy). Anyway, thanks again for the great content.
